South Burlington
A vibrant and historic community with laid-back and relaxing vibes
Welcome to South Burlington
Long before the area became South Burlington, it was a lively lumber port. Ideally located near the banks of Lake Champlain, the area quickly became the third-largest lumber port in the country. Even back in the 1800s, the city was vibrant and bustling, teeming with activity and life supported by the waterfront and the lumber industry. When Lake Champlain was no longer used primarily for transport, the area calmed down and took on the serenity it is known for today. Still a vibrant city center, South Burlington remains home to just over 20,000 residents.
South Burlington is smaller than Burlington but still offers an extensive range of amenities. The community has its own charming downtown filled with historic brick buildings hosting an array of local shopping boutiques and restaurants. South Burlington also features quaint suburban streets. Many homes are equipped with large yards, giving the area a spacious feel. Pristine natural parks and preserves allow residents to enjoy Vermont’s astounding natural beauty.
