St. Albans is a vibrant community with a rich history. The community was first founded in 1763 and was home to just 64 residents. By the late 1700s, many people were attracted to the quaint town, and slowly, it expanded into the bustling community it is today. Farmers were drawn to the area for its rich, loamy soil. The area supported crops and was ideal for raising cattle, horses, and sheep. Butter and cheese from the area were abundant. 
 
While the community has grown from its humble roots, it has not entirely abandoned its peaceful, agricultural past. Sprawling fields and large lots give the area a rural feel. The Traveled Cup won the best coffee house in St. Albans award two years in a row. It's a great stop for a great brew or to recharge after a day of shopping in the charming downtown area. One benefit of living in St. Albans is getting to enjoy the fresh produce from local farms. The St. Albans Cooperative Creamery was founded by a group of local farmers looking to supply high-quality dairy to the community.
 

Things to Do

This vibrant community hosts numerous local events throughout the year. Around Christmas time, downtown St. Albans is lit up with a dazzling display of festive trees and lights. There’s even a holiday tractor parade, where farmers decorate their tractors and vehicles with glistening lights to ring in the holiday cheer. Each spring, the three-day Vermont Maple Festival comes to life. Guests can enjoy maple syrup, baked goods, and entertainment.
 
St. Albans is located on the banks of the stunning Lake Champlain, opening residents to swimming and boating on the lake's blue waters. The impressive natural spaces give residents plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the environment. Taylor Park is a quaint green space perfect for a sunny afternoon. With beautiful landscaping and open lawns, this park is a great place to relax after a day of shopping. Hard’ack Recreation Center offers a host of things to do year-round.
